Tea Leaves
We, the Exchange Students, went on a trip to pick tea leaves. One of the managers of the tea factory was an 青大学 Alumni so we got to see how the operation worked on the inside.
Basically, we paid $3 to work in the fields.
Then, we paired off into groups and picked leaves for a good 30-40 minutes. I assumed it was a competition (it wasn’t), but I figured the prize (tea) would be the same for everyone (it was). So instead of working, I decided to take pictures and video. I had planned on making a video but I don’t think I have anything good to show. I might use it, I might not. It’ll probably just stay on my hard drive until I have a valid reason to throw it away. He then took us through the factory and talked about which machines did what to the leaves before it became drinkable. I was hoping we would see leaves go through the chain (that would’ve made good video), but he turned everything on just to demonstrate how it moved.
All in all, not a bad trip.
I got some tea out of it.
