Small signs on a Czech train (Berlin to Prague) informing passengers not to place trash into the the toilet. I love that they have icons of an apple core, aluminium cans, and I think a toothpaste tube.
Small signs like this often exist in public toilet spaces. A toilet is designed for human waste/fluids. It’s not a trash bin, but sadly passengers have used it as such and train staff had to deal with it. A good example of awareness, or lack of awareness on the part of train participants. What is obvious to some, is not obvious to others.
A walk through Plänterwald, a forest in Berlin. October 2016
Berlin is known for it’s art scene, but not known for being a pretty city. Here I can escape the feeling of a city (just 20 minutes by bus from my house) and enjoy very natural art in a very peaceful way.
My collection of used tea leaves continues to grow. As I drink and share tea, then dry the leaves, I also take time to handle them as they move through each stage of drying. The mix changes over time as I consume teas of different types and origins. There is always so much color and texture to see and feel in the leaves. They remind me of the cycles, slow and fast, that we go through with having different people come and go in our lives, taking care of work and life duties, having fun, being down, and so on. Above all, I am happy to have my health, tools, and the right people in my life to keep going, drinking, collecting, and reflecting.
Thank you to everyone near and far, you have been part of it in some way.
These are my left handed scissors. Growing up, my Dad had a nice pair of left handed scissors and I loved to use them. The pair I’m holding now was a birthday gift from many years ago from my parents, and using them reminds me of my appreciation for nice tools. International Left Handers day is a real thing.
I found the perfect broach for my Mom on her birthday this year. In the past I’ve gifted her such items, always a very tasteful mix of color and structure. This one has a bit of a story: made by hand in the 1930′s in Germany. Purchased from the great antique shop Rose of Fame in Berlin.
