Life Coaching

Together we’ll help you find your way forward.

Since 2020 I’ve been working 1:1 with clients as a Life Coach. I received my qualification from the Animas Centre for Coaching, which is also recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

What is coaching?

It’s a conversation-based approach of working together. Through coaching we support your thinking, we support you in finding your ways to move forward. You will come away with new clarity on whatever topics you bring to the coaching space. You will be better able to figure out what you are seeking, to identify distractions, to set some goals and find your way forward.

Here are some common areas people often work on with coaching:

Work/Career: you have a job and wish to feel better about it, or have ideas of what you would really like to do. You like some colleagues and not others, and would like to find solutions for handling this.

Hobbies: you have your hobbies and wish you could invest more time on them, or spend time rediscovering what you love. But something is in the way from getting started.

Relationships: some are great, others are sources of frustration, and start to impact your well-being. You we can’t change people, but we can change our relationships.

Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or mentoring. It’s a combination of conversation-based practices that can include some pieces from these fields, but with a specific focus: finding ways to move forward.

My experience

I benefited from coaching in 2013. At the time I was seeking to find new ways to work and be creative, but I was stuck. Through coaching I gained clarity and reconnected with a confidence I didn’t realize was missing. I learned I had everything I needed to make change, it just took support from the right person to help me find it.

Coaching helped me with building a greater sense of awareness. Through the years I have been able to better identify what I like, what I dislike, what I value, and what I seek. I feel better able to appreciate and be “out” with the things and people I love, and better able to identify anything that takes away from this love.

Studying coaching has been a great experience. And now I’m working with clients to help them figure these things out too.

My approach

Each session is an opportunity to express the conversations in your head and bring them out into the space. As a coach I respond with open-ended questions to help further facilitate this. We’ll work together to help you define goals and work towards them along the way.

My training includes tools, models, and experience to support and encourage your thinking. My personal experience receiving coaching plays a big part in this too. I’m grateful for my experience and want to support others too, with a special interest in the following areas:

Work/Personal: finding ways to take a fresh look within these big areas in life to gain clarity and movement.

LGBTIQ: leveraging your unique life experiences and community and finding ways to empower and reconnect with yourself.

Relationships & Sexual Health: set aside shame in these important parts in our lives. Finding ways to educate and empower yourself and take care of the needs and desires for yourself and your partners.

A session can take place easily online (via voice/video), as well as in an office, at a cafe, outside, or even during a walk (moving often helps our thought process). Together we agree on what might work well, and change it if needed.

A session is 1 hour. It often concludes with a few points to think about, and sometimes homework (many people love this). Coaching is always confidential and the goals, topics and progress are owned by you.

I’m welcoming new clients

Get in touch via email and we’ll talk. Tell me where you are seeking change in your life. If we feel there is a good match, we can schedule a first an introduction (30 minutes) and then follow up about scheduling a set of sessions for you.

We generally start with 6 sessions, once per week. The cost is based on a block of sessions and can be adjusted to meet your financial situation.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Testimonials

“Michael was my life coach for a period during the first COVID19 lockdown in Berlin. Despite the gloomy times, we met online and were able to get to the heart of the matter which was my need for a transition in not only my life but how I viewed success. As I use alternative teaching methods in my work, he gamely explored some of these to use in our sessions – such as the Futures Walk. I loved his flexibility, insightfulness and gentle demeanor.” — SO, Berlin

“My coaching journey with Michael was very successful. In our sessions he created the right space for me to think out loud on several topics. In return he responded with very powerful questions which helped to begin arriving at points of clarity. After just a few sessions, I was already able to move forward on these topics and find resolutions. And by the end of our sessions I was also able to start evolving my own coaching business.” — PP, Hamburg

“I came to Michael for help making the transition from monogamy to polyamory with my long-term partner. I found his approach to be thoughtful, caring and supportive, and it was invaluable in helping me to figure out concrete steps that I could take to move forward when I felt stuck. The weekly check-ins also proved helpful in holding myself accountable for making progress on those steps, and reflecting on my journey as I went. And the most important detail – it worked. With his help, I was able to move forward, and successfully make the transition in relationship and lifestyle, and I couldn’t be happier!” — BF, Berlin

” I recently had the incredible opportunity to experience coaching sessions for the very first time. I had the privilege of working with Michael, and I wholeheartedly recommend his coaching services to everyone. Michael is not just a coach; he’s a remarkable listener who possesses a unique ability to ask the perfect questions. His skill in summarizing situations and helping you sort through your thoughts is nothing short of extraordinary. Michael reads between the lines. He delves deep into your concerns, follows up diligently on previously discussed points, and seamlessly connects the dots between separate sessions.” — J, Berlin
