My brother Daniel writes about the first few nights after Serafina was born:

The next day we began our stay at Delphys. Delphys is a Geburtshaus … I don’t know what we call that in English, so I’ll just call it a birth house. It’s a place where parents-to-be can go to give birth with the support of midwives. It’s a much more friendly environment than a hospital, and it’s a great alternative to home birth because it’s got that at-home feeling without the need to clean the carpets afterwards. You’re surrounded by midwives, and if anything should go wrong, the hospital is just a short drive away.
